Spoiled billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is missing and presumed dead when his yacht is lost at sea. He
returns five years later a changed man, determined to clean up the city as a hooded vigilante armed with a bow.

Basata sul personaggio di Freccia Verde, supereroe protagonista di una serie di fumetti DC Comics, la serie
"Arrow" segue le avventure del playboy miliardario Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell); scomparso per anni e da tutti
creduto morto dopo il naufragio sull’isola infernale di Lian Yu (il “Purgatorio”), Oliver riesce a
tornare finalmente nella sua città, Starling City, dove assume l'identità segreta di Arrow,
l'Incappucciato, per combattere il crimine e la corruzione che dilagano in città. 
Il piano diabolico di
Adrian Chase ha portato Oliver e il Team Arrow ad un confronto finale sull'isola di Lian Yu, dove tutto il gruppo
si è trovato in un vero e proprio inferno di fuoco e bombe approntato da Prometheus - un inferno che sembra essere
costato la vita all'intero team, lasciando incolumi solo Oliver e il figlio William. 
I canonici flashback sul
passato di Oliver - ormai esaurito il racconto del suo periodo di formazione nei cinque anni di vagabondaggio prima del
ritorno a Star City - vengono sostituiti da rapidissimi intermezzi che ci permettono di vedere cosa è successo subito
dopo l'esplosione. Gli avvenimenti su Lian Yu hanno intaccato la vita di numerosi personaggi, come dimostrano
Diggle, Quentin e Thea in particolare. 
Dopo l'esplosione di Lian Yu, la vita del Team Arrow è quindi
completamente cambiata, con Oliver costretto a dividersi tra il ruolo di eroe, quello di sindaco e le sue
responsabilità di padre. 
Star City però non può difendere da sola: il team dovrà dunque confrontarsi
con una nuova minaccia, Black Siren (Kate Cassidy); da tutti creduta morta su Lian Yu, in combutta con Alex Faust
(Dominic Bogart) e altri criminali pianificherà una serie di attacchi, che daranno un gran da fare alla squadra nel
corso dell’intera stagione.
