This version is patched to work with
newer versions of Windows.

Use the .BAT files to start the game by choosing your desired resolution!

All video modes should work in Windows XP.

8-bit modes do not like Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 for the most part,
but a Direct Draw registry fix applies a color fix and the Centipede launcher now disables the Windows Explorer prior to
launch which allows it to function nicely in Windows 7!

16-bit modes do not allow native video playback to
work in Windows 8, 8.1, or 10 and 8-bit graphic modes do not launch at all in Windows 10. There is now included a
workaround via DxWnd which you can launch Centipede with 'START DxWnd' scripts
that allows the game and videos to run even in Windows 10!

32-bit modes do not play in-game videos, but work
well in all versions of Windows.

CD Audio tracks have been integrated into the game in MP3 format using the
_inmm.dll method.

The videos have been re-encoded. The video quality was best on PC while the frame-rate and
audio quality of the Dream Cast videos were much better (although DC videos were in much lower resolution). The much
better audio from the Dream Cast videos were merged into the existing PC cut-scenes and frame-rate was converted from 15
fps to 29.97 to give the videos smoother transition while maintaining quality!

Last, but not least, if you
are retro and want to move this game to an old Win 95, 98 or ME system, take note that the BAT
scripts written for XP+ will not work in Win9x. You can, however, use the provided Win9x
labeled .reg files included in the 'Centipede' folder, copy and rename the PRF resolution files to
'RES.PRF" and overwrite the existing one in the 'Centipede' folder and launch 'Centi.exe'
to play. Remember you only have to do these steps if you are to run it on a retro machine! Point is, yes, you can do
this!
