Sinópsis:
El pequeño Mowgli se pierde en la selva tras la muerte de su padre a manos del poderoso tigre Shere Khan, considerado el rey de la selva. Acaso por una extraña sincronía con los animales, éstos no sólo no lo devoran sino que lo aceptan como uno de sus iguales. Viviendo con ellos se integrará en una comunidad en la que todos sus miembros luchan por sobrevivir, aunque anteponiendo el respeto por la vida y su ciclo natural. Cuando Mowgli se introduce de nuevo en la sociedad humana descubre una realidad que se aleja mucho de la suya. La opulenta colonia británica en la India del siglo XIX es tan poderosa que ha llegado a coronar emperatriz a su reina Victoria. Militares y diplomáticos viven como reyes, aprovechándose de los recursos naturales de los hindúes. Mowgli pronto pondrá en duda esta injusta supremacía, prefiriendo la ley de la selva que para él tiene mucho más sentido.
