Soprano sorceress Isabel Bayrakdarian,
acclaimed internationally for her glittering accomplishments on both stage and screen, presents – in this
hypnotically alluring album of Armenian sacred music – a more spiritual aspect of her multifaceted musical
persona.

Isabel conceived this project as a heartfelt gift to God for sparing the life of her mother, and the
entire album is very much a "family affair." Her husband arranged the pieces, her brother plays the ceremonial
percussion instruments, and her two sisters join her to form a vocal trio in several tracks.

This
spellbinding music – scored variously for solo and ensemble voices, cello and women's choir – will
take its fortunate listeners on a deeply spiritual and meditative journey of the soul.

The enchanting, exotic music of Armenia is the perfect foil for Ms. Bayrakdarian's
"grown-up" voice. It's lush, languid, opulent and absolutely remarkable. The arrangements for cello and
voice shock with their purity of melodic line and meditative quality already built in. This may very well be an album to
obsess about. In the space of just a week, I must have listened to it at least ten times. The usual superb quality of
Delos recordings only enhances the beauty of the experience.

experience of the voice as instrument cannot fail to find this issue a fascinating and captivating listen. If you find
the other-worldly sounds of Russian or Bulgarian Orthodox Church choirs with their rich basses addictive then the
correspondingly high voices of these Armenian voices will weave their magic just as powerfully translating into a heady
brew that will keep you spellbound.
